The oncology team at Roper St. Francis supports a variety of advanced treatment techniques, including Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT/RapidArc), Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH), Total Body Irradiation (TBI) and High-Dose-Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy.
Radiation Therapists and Physicists work closely with Radiation Oncologists, Dosimetrists, Nursing and other members of the care team to support safe and accurate treatment delivery. Collaboration takes place throughout the patient care process, from simulation and treatment planning to treatment delivery, quality assurance and ongoing safety initiatives.
Collaboration is an important part of the day-to-day experience within Radiation Oncology. Team members work together on simulations, image review, treatment implementation, complex cases, workflow development and multidisciplinary care coordination. This team-based approach provides opportunities to work closely across specialties while supporting high-quality patient care.
Team members have opportunities to continue developing their skills through advanced treatment techniques, clinical education, quality improvement initiatives, equipment implementation and other areas of Radiation Oncology.
