The Sawmill site is located in Summerville, SC and will be a mixed-use community with 474 planned multifamily residential units, green spaces connected to the Sawmill Branch Trail and space for retail, office and restaurant use.

The medical facility is part of our strategic expansion to better serve growing communities in Dorchester and Berkeley counties.

The first building - a 40,000 square foot ambulatory care center - will include a free standing emergency department, imaging (MRI/CT/X-Ray), lab surgery center, and women's imaging services.

Construction began in early 2024 and major project milestones have been accomplished throughout 2025. The 40,000 square feet ambulatory building is set to open in January 2026, while the 20,000 medical office building is set to open in April 2026.

This gives Roper St. Francis Healthcare a path forward to better serve our community's health needs with the compassion and excellence that's defined our care for the last 170 years.
